2009 Official Opening of Mount Baw Baw 22 June 2009
BIG OPENING WEEKEND EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS AND BODES WELL FOR GREAT SEASON AT MT BAW BAW

Snow continues to fall at Mt Baw Baw today, a 30 cm base fell in the past 24 hours covering Baw Baw with lovely white fluffy snow.
Mt Baw Baw had a number of delighted tobogganers, sightseers and snow-throwers taking advantage of the first snowfall.
"It's great to have this much snow falling so early in the season”," said Leona Turra, CEO for Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort Management Board.
"With more snow forecast for the coming days we will we will be open for skiing and boarding by next weekend."
Serious sub-zero temperatures will be evident over the next few when it is anticipated to be a chilly -6 degrees. The 2009 snow gods are certainly blessing us.
Mt Baw Baw hosted a variety of festive events over the Queens Birthday weekend.

The weekends highlights were the launch of the Big AirBag, which is the First Air Bag in Australia (& second in the Southern Hemisphere), the huge West Gippsland produce tasting table and the 1st Baw Baw’s got talent quest show.

MP and former Olympic Arial skier, Kirstie Marshall officially opened the 2009 snow season with an energetic speech, commending Mt Baw Baw Board of Management on the  beautiful condition the resort was in, the improvements that have been made over the past year and the great bunch of friendly local staff that have been recruited for the 09 season.

“The Big Air Bag is truly sensational and will be a great attraction for us” says Ms Turra  – Channel [V]’s Danny Clayton, runner up in the 2009 CLEO Bachelor of the Year, partied hard all weekend and although slightly hung over, he managed to pull off the first official jump like a pro.

Mt Baw Baw is committed to support the wonderful West Gippsland region and promote what is on offer.  A superb variety of producers attended the resort on Sunday including: Wild Dog Winery, Clearly Delicious, Berry Creek Gourmet Cheese, Tarago River Cheese, Hope Farm, Thorpdale Potatoes, Peppermint Ridge Farm, Sweet tips Asparagus, Jindi Pig, Flavorite Hydroponic Tomatoes, Alpine Trout Farm, Noojee Num Num chocolates.

Kid’s thought they were in heaven with the combination of snow and the free chocolate fountain!
