Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail
This drive takes you through some of Victoria’s most spectacular scenery on the way to Walhalla, once one of Australia’s richest gold towns.
A trip on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway is a must, as well as exploring the township, nestled in a deep, steep sided and mysterious valley which now is home to only 18 permanent residents.
With the famous Rotunda, Cricket Ground and Mechanics Institute, you can also experience history at its living best, or take a tour of the Walhalla Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine to see how life once was.
Great Walhalla Alipine Trail (Australian Alps Walking Track)
The Great Walhalla Alpine Trail follows the first 40 kilometre (23 mile) section of the Australian Alps Walking Track, one of the world’s great Alpine walks stretching 680 kilometres (422 miles) from Walhalla to Canberra.
